New lodgment option during the COVID-19 pandemic
The Registrar General has approved a temporary lodgment process known as “COVID-19 residual lodgment”. This process allows paper instruments to be sent through to NSW Land Registry Services (NSW LRS) via the PEXA workspace as documents in PDF format. NSW LRS will then treat the PDF version of the instrument as if it were lodged in paper over the counter.
The Office of the Registrar General has released an information sheet on the new temporary lodgment option to assist users.
COVID-19 residual lodgment will become available in two phases.
From 11 May 2020, land dealings may be lodged using COVID-19 residual lodgment.
From 25 May 2020, non-land title dealings, such as powers of attorney, may be lodged using COVID-19 residual lodgment.
COVID-19 residual lodgment is only available to subscribers to PEXA. Subscribers must obtain a properly completed client authorisation from their client and verify their client’s identity and right to deal. The subscriber must also keep all evidence supporting the conveyancing transaction.
Further information on COVID-19 residual lodgment is available on the PEXA and NSW LRS websites.
