Further extension - alternative signing options for strata and community schemes

Publish date:

Regulations have been made to further extend temporary arrangements for strata and community schemes which allow alternative signing options during COVID-19. The changes, which permit a scheme to execute an instrument by signature rather than affixing the association or owner’s corporation seal, are now in force until 29 September 2022.

For more information on how these changes apply to land registry instruments and plan documents, please see our page Alternative signing options for strata and community schemes – COVID-19.

The amending Strata Regulation and the amending Community Regulation can be viewed in full on the NSW Legislation website:

The temporary changes were extended so that owners corporations and community land associations can continue operating as they have been during 2020 and 2021, until permanent changes introduced by the COVID-19 and Other Legislation Amendment (Regulatory Reforms) Act 2022 commence. The permanent changes relate to ways of voting and an electronic form of the seal. They are currently expected to commence on 30 September 2022.
