Interoperability - ARNECC statement on next steps

Publish date:

The Australian Registrars’ National Electronic Conveyancing Council (ARNECC) has released a statement on next steps, to inform the future direction for the interoperability reform. ARNECC is commissioning the following reviews, to be overseen by a new governance structure involving key stakeholder input:

  • a functional requirements review to develop a comprehensive functional scope, and
  • an updated cost benefit analysis, to assess the benefits of the reform and to test whether the direct connect interoperability model continues to be the most appropriate model.

These steps adopt the recommendations of a recent targeted review, led by Titles Queensland and supported by NSW, into issues recently raised by the banking industry, and take into account the insights of stakeholders consulted during that process.

ARNECC is aiming for the reviews to conclude by mid-year and it is anticipated that a further update will follow.  The NSW Office of the Registrar General will continue to support ARNECC in this review work and other initiatives to progress the reform.
